Corys Privacy Policy

General

This policy sets out the responsibilities and procedures for how Corys Electrical Limited handles Personal Information, whether collected via our websites or through other means, and how Corys complies with the requirements of the Privacy Act 2020.

“Personal Information” has the same meaning as in the Privacy Act 2020.

"Credit Details" refers to "credit information" as that term is defined in the Credit Reporting Privacy Code 2020.

“We” or “Corys” means Cory’s Electrical Limited.

This policy replaces all existing policies.  We may update this policy from time to time and we will post the updated policy on our website.

Collecting Personal Information

Corys collects Personal Information in order to provide our products and services to our customers, including to help us provide better service.  We also collect Personal Information where it is required in order to manage our business relationships with customers and suppliers.

Corys collects contact details of customers, contractors and employees such as name, address, telephone number and e-mail addresses. We also collect identification details where required to help minimise fraud, as well as Credit Details

We collect most of this information directly from individuals.  However, we may collect some Personal Information, including Credit Details, from third parties when a customer applies for credit.

Use of Personal Information

Corys may use Personal Information for the purposes set out above.

Corys may use Credit Details to:

  • assess credit applications, including whether to accept an individual as a guarantor;
  • collect overdue payments.

Corys shares Credit Details and credit eligibility information with credit reporting bodies (for example, Veda Advantage Limited) and credit providers for the following purposes:

  • to assess an individual’s application for commercial credit;
  • to notify other credit providers of a default by the relevant individual;
  • to exchange information with other credit providers as to the status of credit provided by Corys where the relevant individual is in default with credit providers; and
  • to assess the relevant individual’s credit worthiness.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Corys may disclose Personal Information in order to meet the purposes set out above to the following persons:

  • subsidiaries, related entities, and any of our contractors or advisers;
  • any third party service providers (including debt collection agencies or credit assessment service providers);
  • government or law enforcement agencies, regulators and legal and professional advisers (whether or not we are legally obliged to disclose such Personal Information); or
  • as otherwise permitted by law.

Credit Details and Personal Information may also be disclosed to Corys’ related entities in Hong Kong and France, who are obliged to protect that information in the same way as Corys.

Our Marketing Activities

Where you have agreed to be provided with our marketing information, we may contact you using the contact details you have provided to provide you with updated information about products and services. For example, customers who join our various incentive programs receive a sales catalogue and other promotional offers. In some instances, other organisations may send out promotional information such as an e-mail newsletter on our behalf, or we may purchase a contact list from another organisation and send promotional information to those individuals.

If you are receiving promotional information about Corys and do not wish to receive this information any longer, you may remove your name from our mailing list by contacting us on accounts.receiveable@corys.co.nz. Please allow 28 days for this request to be processed.

Our Website Privacy Practices

We sometimes use cookie technology on our website to provide information and services to web site visitors. Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer's hard disk for record keeping purposes and are a necessary part of facilitating online transactions. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies. Cookies are useful to estimate our number of members and determine overall traffic patterns through our website. We do not use cookies on our website to identify individual users or collect any other Personal Information.

You can choose to refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser and/or deleting them from your hard drive. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use our websites, however user experience may be enhanced by the use of cookies.

Accessing, Changing and Deleting the Information we have about You

If at any time you wish to request access to, change Personal Information that is inaccurate or out of date, or you wish for us to delete your Personal Information, please contact us by phone, 09 623 6010, by mail at Corys Electrical Head Office, Level 1, 63 Normanby Road, Mt Eden Auckland 1024, or by email on accounts.receiveable@corys.co.nz.  We will take all reasonable steps to take such action unless we are prohibited from doing so for legal reasons.

Storage and Security of your Personal Information

Corys will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to keep secure any information which we hold about you, and to keep this information accurate and up to date. We will not retain your Personal Information for any longer than required for the purpose for which it was collected.

We also require our employees to respect the confidentiality of any Personal Information held by Corys.

What to do if you have a problem or question or think you have been, or are likely to be, the victim of fraud

If Corys becomes aware of any ongoing concerns or problems concerning our privacy practices, we will take these issues seriously and work to address these concerns. If you have any further queries relating to this Privacy Policy, or you have a problem or complaint about the way we have handled your Personal Information, please contact us using the contact details above.

You are entitled to make an initial request, extension request, release request and cancellation request (as those terms are defined in the Credit Reporting Privacy Code 2020) seeking to have your Credit Details suppressed on the basis that that you believe you have been, or are likely to be, the victim of fraud (including identity fraud). To make any such request, please contact us using the contact details provided above.
